We are pleased to announce the release of a new AI-based Color Stain Removal tool in VIVA. The tool is designed to eliminate sharp-edged “color blinking” artifacts — a characteristic defect caused by chemical deterioration of film emulsion, most commonly appearing as green staining.
- Emulsion damage correction — Targets localized color anomalies caused by chemical breakdown of the film emulsion layer, including the notorious green staining common in poorly stored archival film.
- Sharp-edge artifact removal — Eliminates “color blinking” — abrupt frame-to-frame color shifts with hard edges that are impossible to remove with conventional noise reduction tools.
- Automatic detection — The algorithm identifies and corrects stained regions without affecting surrounding image areas, preserving the original color integrity of the frame.
