VIVA 4.7.5.5 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of VIVA 4.7.5.5. This version introduces a streamlined workflow where DeWarping tools are now fully integrated into the Stabilization module inside the Batch Project interface, reducing navigation and improving processing efficiency.

  • Stabilization with Rotation — Corrects global camera movement by treating the frame as a rigid object, eliminating unwanted shifts and rotations.
  • Advanced AI DeWarping — Three new elastic deformation models: Vertical, Vertical + Horizontal, and Random — allow for precise correction of localized image distortions, ranging from row-based shifts to fully flexible, pixel-level adjustments.

VIVA 4.7.4.0 — Spider Web Mode & Extended Color Stain Engine

This release delivers significant improvements to our AI-based restoration pipeline, especially for tackling complex film damage like emulsion cracks and water damage artifacts. The focus is a major extension of the AI-Based Color Stain Removal Engine originally introduced in 4.7.3.0.

  • Spider Web Mode — A brand new mode designed to handle artifacts that appear as dense networks of fine lines or cracking — often referred to as crazing. This type of damage is caused by emulsion contraction or water exposure and creates complex interlocking patterns across the frame that conventional restoration tools cannot address.
  • Extended Color Stain Engine — Major improvements to the AI-Based Color Stain Removal Engine, building on the foundation of 4.7.3.0 with deeper detection capability for emulsion cracks and water damage artifacts.
  • Automatic — The entire process is fully automatic. No manual masking or frame-by-frame intervention required.

AI-Based Color Stain Removal — Especially Effective on Green Emulsion Damage

We are pleased to announce the release of a new AI-based Color Stain Removal tool in VIVA. The tool is designed to eliminate sharp-edged "color blinking" artifacts — a characteristic defect caused by chemical deterioration of film emulsion, most commonly appearing as green staining.

  • Emulsion damage correction — Targets localized color anomalies caused by chemical breakdown of the film emulsion layer, including the notorious green staining common in poorly stored archival film.
  • Sharp-edge artifact removal — Eliminates "color blinking" — abrupt frame-to-frame color shifts with hard edges that are impossible to remove with conventional noise reduction tools.
  • Automatic — The entire process is fully automatic. The algorithm identifies and corrects stained regions without affecting surrounding image areas, preserving the original color integrity of the frame.
